On the occasion of the 42nd session of UNHRC held at United Nations Human Rights Council Headquarters in Geneva on September 12, 2019 Jammu Kashmir National Awami Party [JKNAP] has been renamed as National Equality Party Jammu Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan & Ladakh [NEP JKGBL] . It is proclaimed that the newly reconstituted National Equality Party JKGBL will uphold a secular, democratic and progressive political culture and continue to strive for the peaceful political struggle for the geographical reunification of Jammu Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistsan, & Ladakh.
NEP JKGBL has always categorically condemned the extremism, violence, militancy, inhuman activities & killing of innocent human beings in the name of Jihad. National Equality Party dates back to 1995 when Jammu Kashmir National Awami Party [JKNAP] was conceived by the National Students Federation (NSF). NEP JKGBL has championed the right of self determination for the natives of Jammu & Kashmir and has always upheld the democratic values and endorsed the provision of basic human rights to all citizens irrespective of the cast , creed or colour.
NEP JKGBL has set up its organisation in the Kashmir Valley, Jammu,Gilgit Baltistan & Ladakh and across all the major regions of the world wherever Jammu Kashmir diaspora has its presence. NEP JKGBL is currently led by JKNAP founding member and a committed human rights activist Professor Sajjad Raja who has dedicated all his life towards reunification of the state, and promoting peace and democratic values there in .
